Tomorrow the cricketing world will witness two milestones. Sachin Tendulkar will play his 200th Test match, which is also his farewell match, while West Indies' Shivnarine Chanderpaul is set to take guard for the 150th time in the five-day format.

As far as the hoopla around the landmarks is concerned, Tendulkar’s milestone has obviously overshadowed Chanderpaul’s achievement. u00a0Nevertheless, the unassuming southpaw, who is the first West Indian to feature in 150 Tests, did not seem too concerned about it.u00a0

“It has been a privilege to be here to watch Sachin play in his 200th Test match. We have watched him over the years, played against him, watching him from the other side and it is always a joy to look at him bat.

There is so much to learn from a legend like him. He is a master of batting,” said Chanderpaul after the West Indies practice session at the Wankhede Stadium yesterday.

Chanderpaul was non-committal when asked whether he would fancy playing 200 Tests. “I never thought I would get this far in the beginning but who knows where we can go if we keep persisting. It takes a lot of work.

As an individual, you have to pick yourself up to go to the nets, do a lot of work, practice the way you bat in the game. There are so many things you have to do — training, maintaining the fitness and everything that takes to get on the park and get your work done. And also maintain a standard you think will help you to succeed at the highest level,” said Chanderpaul.u00a0
