Pathaan marked the comeback of Shah Rukh Khan after four years to the silver screen. The movie collected a record-breaking ₹ 55 crore at the Indian box office on the first day of the release. Pathaan had crossed Rs 106 crores from releases worldwide for day 1. It has broken the worldwide opening day record for a Hindi film. Pathaan is now the "biggest opener" in Hindi cinema. Given the enthusiastic response of movie-goers in advance booking, industry experts are confident that Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "Pathan" will open somewhere between Rs 45 to 50 crore at the box office. The Yash Raj Films project, which marks Shah Rukh's return to leading men roles after 2018's "Zero", is set to hit cinema halls a day before the Republic Day. The advance bookings for “Pathaan”, backed by Yash Raj Films, opened from January 20. The film is reportedly set to be released across Indian in 5,000 screens. The root cause of it all is the colour of Deepika’s outfit in Pathaan’s song Besharam Rang. Several Hindu organisations have taken issue with Deepika wearing a sensual orange bikini in the song. Madhya Pradesh Minister, Narottam Mishra had also objected the usage of saffron color in the song. Swara Bhaskar had earlier tweeted on the news that the BJP-led government in Madhya Pradesh might consider banning the release of Pathaan in the state. There was an uproar in Ahmedabad on Wednesday during the promotion of Shah Rukh Khan's film Pathaan. Members of the Bajrang Dal barged into a mall and vandalized the theater. The workers tore the posters of the film Pathaan and threatened not to release the film. The controversy surrounds the movie's newly released song ‘Besharam Rang’. The song features Shah Rukh and Deepika romancing in Spain. Right-wing groups and some BJP leaders have demanded a ban on the song and the film as they feel offended by the saffron colored outfits worn by Deepika in the song. Following the outrage, the censor board has directed the filmmakers to implement a few “changes” in the film including the songs. The movie is scheduled to hit theatres on January 25.
