Watch: IDF attacks Iran's former nuclear test building, say researchers

On October 26, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) conducted precise airstrikes on Iranian military targets, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing Middle Eastern conflict. The IDF claimed to have targeted key facilities involved in Iran's missile production, specifically those manufacturing solid fuel for long-range ballistic missiles. Reports indicated that the strikes also impacted a building linked to Iran's defunct nuclear weapons program, as assessed by experts from the Washington think tank CNA. This wave of attacks was a direct response to Iran's missile assault on Israel on October 1, which involved over 200 missiles. While Israel maintains its position of targeting Iranian capabilities and proxy assets, Iran downplayed the strikes, with its Foreign Ministry accusing Israel of exacerbating regional tensions. This exchange highlights the ongoing volatility and complex dynamics in the region.

Pentagon warns Iran not to take action after Israeli bombings in Tehran

On October 26, the Israeli Defense Forces launched a retaliatory strike called "Operation Iran" in Tehran. This attack came in response to an earlier missile barrage from Iran on October 1, which involved nearly 200 missiles aimed at Israel. The Israeli military claimed it had the right to respond after that attack, resulting in the deaths of four people and the destruction of several military bases in Tehran. Iranian officials expressed anger and promised a "proportional reaction" to Israel's actions. U.S. Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin warned Iran not to retaliate against Israel. The Israeli strikes focused on Iran's air defenses and military capabilities, especially after Israel had previously killed key leaders of Hezbollah in Lebanon. The situation has created heightened tensions in the Middle East, with many watching closely for further developments.
