11 September,2023 02:55 PM IST | Tanmayi SavadiThree decades after director Shivendra Singh Dungarpur was first introduced to Malayalam director G Aravindan's films, his Mumbai-based archive Film Heritage Foundation -- set up in 2014 -- has restored one of his best-known works. Dungarpur met with K. Ravindranathan Nair, the producer of Aravindan's films and the filmmaker's son Ramu Aravindan to help revive the 1979 Malayalam film ‘Kummatty’ using two remaining 35 mm prints. The global partners in this effort were filmmaker Martin Scorsese’s The Film Foundation, which runs the World Cinema Project, and Italy-based film archive Cineteca di Bologna.
