Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on March 11 blasted out on Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi over Electoral Bonds. Kharge claimed that PM Modi wants to hide his party’s dark deeds. “SBI asking for 4 months to provide the data of electoral bonds proves that the Modi government is trying to cover up its dark deeds… If SBI has the data then bring out the list, then why hide it? Raids at different premises allegedly linked to NewsClick are underway at over 30 locations by Delhi Police. NewsClick journalists were seen with Delhi Police Special Cell officials. However, no arrest has been made as of now. Documents and electronics belonging to the persons associated with NewsClick were seized. Delhi High Court, on Aug 22, issued notice to NewsClick's Editor-in-Chief Prabir Purkayastha on a plea filed by Delhi Police's EOW. According to the FIR, a case was registered under UAPA and other IPC sections and an investigation was launched. During the probe, the sleuths gathered evidence indicating criminal acts. FIR states that accused persons, in conspiracy with their accomplices based abroad, devised a deceitful scheme to obtain, and receive funds. As per the same FIR, these funds were used to undertake activities as per instructions received from their foreign-based benefactors. Earlier, ED also moved the Delhi High Court against NewsClick and its editor-in-chief through a fresh application. ED’s application stated that it was a case of grave criminal conspiracy for paid news. Mumbai Police officials reached activist Teesta Setalvad's residence in the same matter. Union I&B Minister Anurag Thakur reacted to the same and said, “search agencies are free to carry out investigations against wrongdoers”.

The BJP today unleashed an attack on the Congress and Rahul Gandhi in Parliament, alleging Chinese funding of the party a day after an explosive New York Times report claimed that media portal Newsclick, financed by tech tycoon Neville Roy Singham, was pushing China’s agenda. It also accused the Congress of defending Newsclick during an investigation by the Enforcement Directorate in 2021 into its funding. He alleged that China had bailed Congress out on multiple occasions between 2005 and 2015. Earlier on Monday, union minister for information and technology Anurag Thakur alleged that Congress, China and NewsClick are part of an umbilical cord.

Inspector General of National Investigation Agency (NIA), Alok Mittal updated ANI on the latest arrests in terror funding case. The agency arrested six persons from Srinagar and one from New Delhi, on Monday. All six arrested in Srinagar will be brought to the national capital, and all seven accused will be produced in the court tomorrow. Mittal informed that the evidence collected so far clearly proves direct link between terror activities & funding of terror activities. The case continues to be under investigation.
