16 May,2024 05:50 PM ISTDenouncing the recently enacted Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) once again, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi went all guns blazing against BJP on March 16 in Hyderabad, Telangana. During a press conference, he alleged that the BJP government wants to make the poor and Muslims stateless. "Our case (challenging CAA) is already in the Supreme Court but at that time govt of India said that the rules are yet not framed. But now as the govt has issued the notifications and has framed the rules for CAA, going to the Supreme Court is a must. If the govt starts giving citizenship based on an unconstitutional law, it can be harmful... This govt is saying that if your religion is Islam, we won't provide you the citizenship, for this we have moved to the Supreme Court. The law was passed in 2019 by the ruling party, but they keep it as it is, when they saw that there would be an announcement for elections in a week, they came up with rules in the night by keeping in mind, the elections. The BJP-led govt wants to make the poor and Muslims stateless.
17 March,2024 11:08 AM ISTMinistry of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal heavily criticized the United States’ remarks on the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) during a Press Conference in Delhi on March 15, describing it as “misplaced, misinformed and unwarranted”. MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “As you are well aware, the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 is an internal matter of India and is in keeping with India's inclusive traditions and a long-standing commitment to human rights. The act grants a haven to persecuted minorities belonging to Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Parsi, and Christian communities from Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh who have entered India on or before December 31, 2014. The CAA is about giving citizenship, not taking away citizenship, so this must be underlined. It addresses the issue of statelessness, provides human dignity, and supports human rights. As regards the US State Department's statement on the implementation of CAA and the comments made by several others, we are of the view that it is misplaced, misinformed, and unwarranted. India's constitution guarantees freedom of religion to all its citizens. There are no grounds for any concern or treatment of minorities. Vote bank politics should not determine views about a laudable initiative to help those in distress. Lectures by those who have a limited understanding of India's pluralistic traditions and the region's post-partition history are best not attempted. Partners and wellwishers of India should welcome the intent with which this step has been taken.”

But due to appeasement politics, Congress never fulfilled its promise... "
14 March,2024 03:29 PM ISTPM Modi implemented CAA on March 11. Union Minister for Housing & Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri took a sharp jibe at the political leaders opposing Citizenship Amendment Act. He said, “There are persecuted minorities in some of our neighbouring countries- Buddhists, Christians, Jains, Hindus, Sikhs, among others... In 1947, the population of Hindus in Pakistan was 24% which stands at 1% today. In erstwhile East Pakistan, there was a certain Hindu population but now there are just 7%. Some of these people who came to India before 2014 are being given a right. The people who are suddenly worried that these few immigrants will take away all jobs and resources need to know that our population is 140 crores and only 1000 people have registered on the portal so far. The number of people who had applied for citizenship under the Citizenship Act of 1955 is also just 4000. What is this completely distorted picture which is being presented?
