In a shocking incident, Bengaluru police on September 21 discovered a dismembered woman's body stored in a refrigerator in Vyalikaval's Malleswara area. The victim, identified as 29-year-old Mahalakshmi, used to live alone in the flat. The police recovered 30 pieces from the 165-litre refrigerator. The victim had moved to the flat five months ago after domestic discord with Hemant Das. Police said the woman was murdered around four to five days ago and her mobile was switched off on September 12. Authorities have registered a case and launched an investigation, forming a special team to thoroughly probe the incident. The body was first discovered by the landlord of the victim who had entered the flat to find out the source of the foul stench that had been pervading the neighbourhood for over two days. Shekar H Tekkannavar, DCP Central Bengaluru quoted that “a special investigation team has been formed for the thorough investigation of the case of alleged murder and body cut in to pieces in Vyalikawal, Bengaluru.
