Bringing a much needed relief to the commuters in Mumbai, Mumbai Metro 3 Phase 1 started its services on October 7. Connecting BKC(Bandra Kurla Complex) to Aarey, this metro service has come as a big relief to the commuters travelling on the western line. Developed at a cost of 32,000 crores, this is Mumbai’s first fully underground metro. In this first phase - around 12 km stretch has been inaugurated between Aarey Colony and BKC. In the subsequent phase - this stretch will be total of around 33 kms between Colaba - Arey and Seepz. This is known to be one of the most challenging projects for the authorities. While this metro project has been a witness to certain hiccups, here’s a peek inside the Mumbai Metro 3 Phase 1 journey.

In a major boost to Mumbai’s transport system, Mumbai Metro Line 3, Aqua Line, opened its operations for the public today with a 12.69-km stretch from BKC to Aarey. Running on 33.5 km, Mumbai Metro’s Aqua Line is one of the longest underground continuous metro stretches in India and first underground metro of Mumbai city. Maharashtra NCP President Jayant Patil held a press conference in Mumbai on May 22 after he was called by ED for questioning in the alleged IL and FS scam. While addressing the press meeting he said that he has no connection with IL and FS scam and that he is ready to go anywhere for questioning by ED. Speaking further, he said that he has not taken any money from anyone and that no money was transferred to his account."I have answered all the questions asked by ED officials. I have no connection with IL&FS. No money came into my account and I have not taken money from anyone. I will go whenever they (ED) call me again. All the allegations are false," said Jayant Patil.
