World Photography Day
Rajen Nair, a Mumbai-based partially-deaf photographer, has created two social media handles called 'Enabled Photography' and 'Cancer Art Project' to showcase the work of his students, who have a hearing disability or are cancer survivors from the city and around India. Since the young camera aficionados were bored indoors due to the Covid-19 pandemic, he encouraged them to keep busy by clicking local photographs which he shares on these pages. The COVID-19 pandemic had devastating effects on people across the world. With rising cases, India,too, suffered from its outcome. To curb the virus, a nationwide lockdown was announced in 2020, but its affect was severe for some. During such tough times, Sood selflessly came forward to help people in need. What started as helping with distribution of food, soon shifted to relocating people, providing health and education facilities, and much more. He came to be known as the real-life hero, a messiah for his philanthropic activities, which he continues to do even today. On hiss birthday, we look back at the work done by Sood. After a long gap, schools in Mumbai reopened for classes 8-12. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has also issued detailed guidelines for the reopening. Some of the guidelines are approval of school management, consent of parents, mapping the school with nearest primary health centre, vaccination of school staff or RTPCR testing, daily thermal scanning of students and masks are mandatory.
