On November 18, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde sharply criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his comments about the Dharavi redevelopment project. Shinde claimed that Rahul Gandhi provided incorrect information, stating that 2 lakh people would get homes in Dharavi. Shinde also mocked Gandhi's recent appearance with a safe during a press conference, saying he had brought the "tijori" (safe) to loot Maharashtra, instead of helping it. Shinde urged the people of Dharavi to focus on the benefits of the redevelopment project, which he called Asia's largest, and to ignore political figures. On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi had earlier mocked Prime Minister Modi's remark “ek hain to safe hain,” by bringing out a safe during the press meet to highlight his criticism.

As per BMC's information, the fire was noticed by residents, who informed the Mumbai Fire Brigade department. No injuries have been reported so far. Further investigation of the incident is underway.
