Jen Atkins is a young woman who was once dumped by her fiance for being too fat. However, she didn't let that demotivate her but instead used it to become a better version of herself.
She started to lose weight and within two years, she went from 247 pounds to 131 pounds i.e. she lost 116 pounds. However, she shut up everybody when she bagged the title of Miss Great Britain 2020.
Atkin had retired from pageants after getting married last year, but she decided to give it one more shot after having her name put forward to represent Great Britain this year.
Atkin had met her ex in March 2011 and at that time, she weighed 203 pounds. However, by 2015, she weighed up to 238 pounds, which is when her fiance decided to end their relationship.
The beauty queen, who found love again in her husband Chris, said, "When we broke up, I was devastated, but it ended up being the best thing that’s happened to me."
Atkin, who is from Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire, was first selected as one of the 10 finalists in her first pageant, Miss Genting Sheffield in 2017.
After that, not only did Jen Atkin win the coveted title of Miss Great Britain but she also won the personality award.
After Atkins started working out, fitness became a thing to her. In one of her Instagram captions, she writes, "Fitness is so important to me; it changed my life. Not only did it help me shed almost half my body weight, but it makes me feel amazing, it keeps me focused, lowers the risk of health conditions, improves my mood and sleep and starts my day on such a positive note!"
She added, "Exercise is the most underrated and under-utilised medicine in the whole world, I really hope I can inspire people to get more active; not just for the outside but the inside too."
Atkin said that when she weighed more, she would eat takeouts for dinner and was a self-confessed couch potato.
According to reports, Jen goes to the gym 5 times a week now. She also said that while she doesn't follow a diet, she thinks about what she puts in her body.
On winning the pageant, she writes, "Can’t even explain how I feel right now, it truly hasn’t sunk in! Becoming the 75th Miss Great Britain gives me such pride and I feel incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to share my story and touch the lives of others."
She added, "I'm determined to fulfil this role to the best of my ability! Thank you so much everyone... big things coming."
