In Lithonia, Georgia, a 25-year-old Indian student named Vivek Saini, who had completed an MBA in the United States, was battered to death by a homeless drug addict he had been assisting for the past several days. The attacker, Julian Faulkner, was recorded on camera striking Saini about 50 times with a hammer, per the Associated Press report.

According to the report, Saini, a part-time clerk, had shown humanity by giving Faulkner food, water, and even a jacket. However, on January 16, Saini, afraid for his safety, begged Faulkner to leave, which resulted in the fatal attack. When the police arrived, they discovered Faulkner standing over Saini's lifeless body.

The young student, who migrated to the US two years ago after completing his B Tech, was described by his family in Haryana as a brilliant individual striving for a decent job. Saini's parents, Gurjeet Singh and Lalita Saini are devastated and currently unable to discuss the incident, the report added.

In another incident from India, a college student was killed and her elder sister was injured after a speeding mini-bus hit their two-wheeler at a traffic signal. The incident, reportedly, happened in Nagpur. The bus driver fled from the spot after the accident.

The deceased was identified as Ganesh Nagar resident Shreya Jeevan Rokde, 18. Sakshi Rokde, her 23-year-old sister, was receiving care at the Government Medical College & Hospital.

Around 9.20 am, when the duo were waiting for the traffic light to turn green, a minibus struck them from behind and knocked them off their bike. Shreya had sustained severe brain injuries as a result and her sister sustained limb injuries, the agency report stated.

While some onlookers hurried the two sisters to the hospital, where Shreya passed away shortly after being hospitalised, the bus driver fled the scene out of fear for the anger of the people, the report added.

In a similar incident from Nagpur city, a 20-year-old woman and her 15-year-old brother were killed when their two-wheeler was hit by a garbage-carrying tipper truck in Nagpur on Friday. The deceased were identified as Anjali Saini (20) and Sumit Saini (15). The mob, that was fuming, set the tipper on fire. They also vandalised a fire fighting vehicle of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation that had gone to douse the blaze.
