On February 16, an aircraft carrying the second batch of 119 Indian nationals who allegedly migrated illegally to the US landed at Amritsar Airport. This is the second flight of deportees since US President Donald Trump’s inauguration. The migrants’ relatives claimed that they were tricked by agents who didn’t inform them that they were being sent to the US and UK through the `Dunki` route. Earlier, on February 5, a US Air Force plane had brought deported Indian citizens to Amritsar. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann reassured that the deportees would be treated well and that all necessary arrangements had been made for their return and stay.
