On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Congress for its "appeasement politics" and accused it of passing laws to benefit certain groups. Speaking at a celebration of the BJP-led alliance`s victory in the Maharashtra assembly elections, Modi highlighted the Congress`s actions related to the Waqf Board. He claimed that Congress ignored the Supreme Court`s orders and handed over properties in Delhi and surrounding areas to the Waqf Board before leaving power in 2014. Modi stated that the Waqf law has no place in India`s Constitution, which was framed by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, and accused Congress of using such decisions to secure votes and increase its support base.
