The deal to buy 26 Rafale Marine jets for the Indian Navy is getting closer to completion. Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi said on December 2 that since it`s a government-to-government agreement, it should be finalized soon. India and France are negotiating the deal, with the jets to be deployed on the INS Vikrant aircraft carrier and at various Navy bases. This deal is key for the Navy`s maritime strike capabilities. In September, France gave India its final price offer. The plan includes 22 single-seater Rafale Marine jets and four trainer jets. India will also buy long-range Meteor missiles and anti-ship weapons as part of the deal.
