A controversy has erupted in Karnataka’s Mandya district after the removal of Lord Hanuman flag by district administration. Hindu activists, BJP, JD(S) workers held massive protests in Keragodu village after the Hanuman flag was allegedly removed. Hanuman flag hoisted by Gram Panchayat Board on a 108-foot flagpole was brought down by district administration on Jan 28. Congress claimed that instead of Lord Hanuman’s flag, the national flag should have been hoisted. BJP-JD(S) held massive protests in the village and held a ‘padayatra’ from Keragodu village to District Collector’s office. Meanwhile, security has been heightened and Section 144 has been imposed in the village to maintain law and order after the Hanuman Flag Row. In Bengaluru, BJP workers were detained by Karnataka Police as they were protesting against the administration`s actions. Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar alleged BJP-JD(S) of doing politics over the incident.
