Tripura Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath on Saturday ordered a probe into the incident of the death of an engineer due to electrocution. Purnendu Bikash Datta, an engineer associated with Tripura Health Department was on his way home on Thursday when he came in contact with the high-tension live wire hanging from an electric pole located right in front of his house.

He was immediately shifted to a local hospital where the doctors declared him dead on arrival. Two days after the incident, Tripura Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath reached out to the bereaved family. He consoled the grief-stricken family and extended his condolences.

Speaking to media persons after his visit, Nath said, "We have ordered an inquiry under an electrical inspector. The findings of the inquiry shall reveal the names of people who had been responsible for the incident. The Minister was flanked by Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited MD Debasish Sarkar and officials of Feedback Energy Distribution Company Limited (FEDCO), a private entity looking after energy distribution in Sabroom."

On the incident, Nath said, "It was a tragic incident. When the deceased came in contact with the live wire, the power supply was resumed without making any inquiry whether things were restored all over the area or not. We have received multiple complaints against the private service provider but till the time we don't have a substitute for them, we have to make sure that services don't get hampered."
