A technical issue with its engine led an Indian Army helicopter to make a "precautionary landing" at a farm in the Sangli region of Maharashtra, officials said.

The incident happened early on Saturday morning while the chopper was travelling from Nashik to Bengaluru with three Army troops aboard--two pilots and a mechanic. Fortunately, no casualties were reported, the PTI report stated.

According to the PTI report, due to a mechanical fault, the Army Aviation Corps helicopter made a safe landing at approximately 9:50 am in Erandoli hamlet in Miraj tehsil of Sangli district.

A second helicopter showed up a few hours later to offer technical support. After the problem was fixed, neither helicopter encountered any more difficulties when taking off, the report added.

Helicopter mishap injures pilot during landing in Maharashtra's Raigad

According to a police official quoted by news agency PTI, a helicopter pilot was hurt when the aircraft tipped over during a landing in Raigad district, Maharashtra, on Friday.

According to the police official who spoke to PTI, Sushma Andhare, the leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), was scheduled to be picked up by the chopper for a public rally about the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. The pilot tried to land on a temporary helipad at Mahad at around 9:30 am, which is when the mishap happened.

Initial results indicate that the pilot was hurt, but the accident also damaged the helicopter's rotor blades.

The helicopter was trying to land at an unknown area when it abruptly veered, wavered, lost balance, and crashed loudly in a cloud, according to a live video clip that Andhare posted.
