Exuding confidence in winning the Lok Sabha polls, Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee President Asish Kumar Saha asserted that the INDIA bloc will form the next government with the support of more than 350 MPs. Speaking to media persons during his visit to Kamalasagar, in the Sepahijala district of Tripura, Saha said that he sees no scope for the BJP's return.

"We are confident that the BJP will fail to form the next government. The Congress-led INDIA bloc will secure a comfortable victory. The way people from different corners of the country are joining hands with the INDIA bloc, I see no scope for the BJP's return. And Narendra Modi can't become the PM for the third consecutive term," Saha said.

On being asked about PM Modi's call for 400 seats, the Congress leader said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi never keeps his promise. His claims fall flat most of the time. Even the BJP could sense very well that they are nowhere close to the target they have set for themselves. So far, as per our calculations, we are forming the government with the support of more than 350 MPs in total."

Saha is the INDIA bloc candidate against BJP heavyweight and former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb from the West Tripura parliamentary constituency. Voting for the two seats in Tripura was concluded on April 19 and April 26, respectively, in the first and second phases of the Lok Sabha elections. In the 2019 elections, the BJP won both Tripura East and West Lok Sabha seats.
