X users have been viciously trolling The Humans of Bombay (HOB) organisation following its copyright infringement case filed in the Delhi High Court. The platform was founded by Karishma Mehta and the organisation filed a lawsuit against an online storytelling portal ‘People of India’ for copyright infringement.

Humans of New York founder Brandon Stanton took to ‘X’ and accused HOB of copying his idea of Humans of New York. He also criticised the company for filing a lawsuit against another storytelling platform. Many people then came forth and brutally trolled the organisation on ‘X’. A username, @DoctorLFC replied, "Karishma Mehta, this is not done. You must drop the lawsuit. If you've taken inspiration from Humans Of New York and they have been kind, you must afford the same liberty to others.

Another username @Komal_42 wrote, “HoB is not an appropriation but actually an insult to your work. It’s embarrassing that it exists and this action of their founder to sue someone else for the same stuff they’re doing reeks of insecurity." The trolls did not just stay confined to the organisation but also looped in founder Karishma Mehta. Many people called her out for promoting toxic workspace environment. “Don’t even get started on the toxic work culture at that place: there are employees who’ve quit citing harassment, abuse, lack of pay, and punishing work hours. A cheap rip-off sitting on the moral high horse is peak South Bombay entitlement. Hope it comes out one day,” wrote an ‘X’ user.

HOB is an Indian photoblog website which features the most wholesome stories about the people residing in the metropolitan city. HOB chose to respond to Brandon denying the lawsuit was about storytelling, “We are grateful to HONY & Brandon for starting this storytelling movement. The suit is related to the IP in our posts & not about storytelling at all. We tried to address the issue amicably before approaching the Court, as we believe in protecting our team’s hard work.”
