West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday asserted that she would win the ongoing state polls despite injury and eventually aim for power in Delhi. Training her guns at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Banerjee, who is seeking a third term in office, said West Bengal will be ruled by its own people.

Terming herself as a Royal Bengal Tiger, the TMC chief said West Bengal will not be ruled by anyone from Gujarat. “BJP, cannot you find a local candidate to contest elections? They do not have locals. All their people are borrowed from either TMC or CPM. They are sprinkling money like water from a hosepipe. I will win Bengal on one leg and in the future, will get victory in Delhi on two legs,” she said.

Criticising the Centre over the Maoist attack in Chhattisgarh, the CM accused the BJP of not governing the country properly and concentrating on West Bengal elections. Banerjee, who has been accused by the prime minister of showering abuses on him, said she does not care about Modi calling her “Didi..o... didi” in a tone which some TMC leaders, including MP Mahua Moitra, have termed as “cheap”. “He does this every day, I don’t care,” Banerjee said.   Agencies

171 votes in Assam booth of 90 voters
Total 171 votes were cast in a booth in Assam’s Dima Hasao district, even though 90 people were eligible to vote, officials said on Monday, revealing a massive irregularity. The booth in the Haflong constituency went to polls on April 1. The district poll officer suspended five poll officials of the booth.
