Delhi police arrest three for killing their informer

Delhi cops are not always slack about their duty, not when it comes to nabbing the killer of their trusted informer.

On Monday, the Delhi cops nabbed the last of the three men who had shot dead their informer Pramod Kumar in Noida last month when he and a team of policemen were trying to nab a gang of vehicle thieves.

A contract killer, Rahul Singh, 30, and his two accomplices Bhupinder Singh, 28, and Sanjay were arrested by the cops over the past week for the murder of Kumar on October 20. The three accused were also wanted for other crimes including murder, robbery and auto thefts in the National Capital Region.

Four loaded pistols and six cartridges were recovered from the three arrested criminals.

The police said Bhupinder was arrested when he was trying to fix the deal of a stolen car near the Shiva idol in Mahipalpur area on November 3. Bhupinder led cops to Sanjay, who was nabbed near the All India Institute of Medical Sciences on November 6. On Monday, the police arrested Rahul from the Vasant Kunj area after an exchange of fire.

"Our team was following Rahul. We tried to stop his car near a police barricade but he opened fire at us.

However, his pistol misfired. Our men fired two rounds in retaliation and finally arrested him," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Delhi) HGS Dhaliwal.

The feat
On October 20, Kumar had led a Delhi Police team to the hideout of a car-lifting gang at Sector-61, Noida.u00a0 As instructed by the police, he went alone to meet the robbers. The gang was waiting at the parking lot of Sai Mandir for Kumar, while the nine-member police team was hiding about 200 metres away. Kumar struck the deal but the robbers later suspected something was amiss. Sensing the presence of cops, the robbers shot him and fled the spot.
