GTT to train IT professionals to meet the gaping need in the sector by 2020

Even though the IT sector has been hit by the present economic downturn, there are some sectors where there is a dearth of trained professionals. Global Talent Track is targeting just that.



The company recently announced its expansion plans, which are expected to provide employment to five lakh people in India and later in China and Malaysia.

Dr Uma Ganeshan, GTT's CEO, said, "A recent research report projects that there will be 47 million surplus manpower in India when we enter 2020.

This finding translates into a gaping need that Indian professionals can fulfill in the global job market, where there will be shortage of manpower.

Coupling this fact with the recent downturn of the economy, where companies are heavily cutting down on their training expenses, there is crying need for more 'ready' employees, who are ready to hit the road from day one."

Demand

Announcing a multi-million dollar funding and its expansion plans for four Indian states, and China and Malaysia, CEO of the Global Talent Track, Ganeshan said, "Even when we are going through the so-called downturn, certain segments are in dire need of human resources and simply are not able to find them.

Take for example, IT infrastructure services where if we treble the resources and make those resources deliver to the industry requirements, we have a huge opportunity there."

Fuelled with $8 million investment from Intel Capital and Helion Venture Partners, GTT is planning to start 12-course modules for 30,000 students across 100 colleges, affiliated to Pune University to prepare them for IT, IITes, BFSI, and Hospitality "The courses will range from 3 months to 3 years.

GTT is partnering with Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Ltd and, by using their network, will be delivering vocational courses through their 450 centres, added Ganeshan.

GTT is planning to open its first centre in Pune in March.
