Former students, who did not get the opportunity to get their convocation pictures clicked, met up on the campus for a special photo session yesterday
To reminisce the good old college days, former UoP student Suresh Jain invited his batch- mates and other alumni to walk down memory lane on the varsity’s convocation day yesterday. For those students who missed the chance of getting their convocation snaps taken, Jain offered them a chance to make this happen.

He requested them to assemble at the university’s main garden for a photograph session with their degree certificates.
Jain was present at UoP’s main garden yesterday with five professional photographers and friends to assist him in capturing the day’s moments. He said, “Surprisingly we received a good response, as at least 100 former students turned up.”
Professor Dattatray Aadkar of Cusrow Wadia Institute of Technology who received his career’s sixth degree from the university could not help himself from posing for a convocation snap.

Despite achieving a number of degrees, he doesn’t have a single photograph clicked in his convocation attire. “My bond with UoP is very unique. Earlier, as a student, I received my BSc, MSc and BEd degrees from the varsity and later as a researcher I successfully completed my MPhil. Today is a special day in my career as I was conferred with a doctorate for my research in nano-technology,” Aadkar told mid-day.
“If it wasn’t for the notice put up on the board by Jain, I would not have wanted to be photographed even now. His initiative gave me the feeling that even though I have been teaching for the past 25 years, I am still associated with the university as a student,” Aadkar added. Jain has plans to make convocation pictures available to students free of cost, as not everyone can afford to shel out Rs 100 for a copy. Around 2,000 students came to him to avail this offer.
Picture deal
Every year on UoP’s convocation day, private photo studios approach the varsity to set up their photo booths so that students can get their pictures taken. They are given large- sized photographs clicked in front of main university building. Yesterday, 10 photo studios set up shop by the garden, and they charged Rs 100 for an A4 photograph.
