The Consortium of Pub-going, Loose and Forward Women plans to flood the Sri Rama Sene chief with not-so-fancy underwear in the hope that love will bloom in an arid heart

Guess what's in store for Sri Rama Sene Pramod Mutalik this Valentine's Day? Pink panties in the post, that's what.

A group of women calling themselves the Consortium of Pub-going, Loose and Forward Women is asking people to send their love to Mutalik in the form of dirt-cheap pink panties.

"It is a symbolic protest," said a Consortium spokesperson. "We are not only protesting against fundamentalism but also pray that love blossoms in the hearts of the likes of Mutalik."

A press release says the campaign started on February 5, and 1,300 chaddis (panties) have already been collected.

"That's not surprising. Most women in this country have enough curbs on their lives without a whole new franchise cashing in with their bullyboy tactics. Of course, a lot of men have joined the group as well," said Nitin, campaign convenor. "Join in. Be imaginative. Have fun and fight back," he adds.

The Consortium will call a press conference on February 13 and collect the chaddis from participants. They will then send it to the Sene chief.

The group will also take part in the "Pub Bharo" movement on Valentine's Day.

'Not accept it'

The question then is: What will Pramod Mutalik do with all those panties? Here's what the man himself says: "Let them send the chaddis. I will not accept. Their move shows their obscene culture and we are fighting against that very obscenity."

The pink panty campaign, step by step

The consortium has asked the participants to follow three steps.

>> Step 1
Look in your closet or buy them cheap. Dirt-cheap. Make sure they are PINK. Send them to the Sena.

The address to send the package is:
The Pink Chaddi Campaign,
C/o Alternate Law Forum,
122/4 Infantry Road
(opposite Infantry Wedding House),
Bangalore - 560001,
Karnataka.
Contact person: Nitin (9886081269)

If you don't want to mail it yourself, you can drop it off at chaddi collection points by February 12. More information about chaddi collectors in your city cab be found on our blog: https://thepinkchaddicampaign.blogspot.com/

>> Step 2
Send the Pink Chaddi Campaign a photograph of the package.

Tell us how many chaddis you are sending out and inspire other women in other cities. You can either mail the information to freelancehabba@gmail.com or search for us on facebook.

>> Step 3
On Valentine's Day we do a Pub Bharo action. Go to a pub wherever you are. "From Kabul to Chennai to Guwahati to Singapore to LA, women have signed up. It does not matter if you are not a pub-goer or not much of a drinker. Let us raise a toast (it can be juice) to Indian women. Take a photo or video. We will put it together (more on how later) and send this to the Sri Ram Sene," said the spokesperson.

What happens after Valentine's Day?
After Valentine's Day, we should get some of our elected leaders to agree that beating up women is ummm... AGAINST INDIAN CULTURE.

Right now, ask not what
Dr V S Acharya, home minister of Karnataka, can do for you. Ask what you can do for him. Here is his blog.
