Delhi Police recently busted a gang who first used to offer lifts to the people and then rob them.u00a0 "We received information that a gang of robbers was active in North-West and West Delhi and the members of the gang would assemble in Rohini. A trap was laid and we apprehended three persons who were travelling in a Maruti Zen car.
During questioning, we found out that on January 10, these three had given a lift to a railway employee, promising to drop him at Bahadurgarh on payment of a nominal fare. As he sat sit inside their car, they beat him up and robbed him at a knife point," said Ashok Chand, DCP Crime. He added that they had also looted an employee of a private company in a similar fashion some time back . "After robbing the victim, they used to cover his face with polythene and tie his hands before dumping him at a secluded place to ensure that the victim could not note down the number of the car.
I request general public not to take lifts from unknown persons and use public transport to avoid such incidents," DCP said.
