Accused granted bail, police claim no eyewitness in the case

A day after nation woke up to a road rage incident that saw pilot Vikas Aggarwal 'kill' restaurant manager Rajiv Jolly Wilson, police are still to ascertain whether it was a deliberate act or just an accident.

"We are waiting for forensic report of the crime scene and have asked for constitution of a medical board for postmortem. We also need to establish the sequence of the events first and only then we can change the sections under which the accused is booked. The pilot had been booked under section 304-A (causing death by negligence) on the basis of the prima facie evidence," said Additional Deputy Commissioner (New Delhi) VA Gupta.

The accused has been granted bail. Police are also claiming that they were not able to find any eyewitness in the case. "We don't have any eyewitness. Police is the complainant in the matter. Though the incident took place in full public view but no one is coming forward to talk about it. We have approached parking attendants and shopkeepers of the area. They all said that they only saw the body," said a police official.

All this is making the family and relatives of the deceased feel that police are hushing up the matter. "Khan Market is a crowded place. How can it be possible that no one saw Rajiv being killed by the accused? We know that common people will not want to be an eyewitness but policemen who were there on the Republic Day duty can come forward," said Stephens, brother-in-law of the deceased.u00a0

Wilson's post-mortem is likely to be conducted on Thursday. Meanwhile, a team of Central Forensic Science Laboratory visited the crime scene at Khan Market to gather scientific evidence. The team took the samples from the car of deceased and victim to scrutinise the schedule.

'We want justice'

Family members of Rajiv Jolly Wilson alleged that police were covering up the matter under the influence of accused Vikas Aggarwal's father, who is a former law secretary. "We want justice. Vikas should have been booked under section 304 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder). The Delhi Police is sheltering him just because his father is an influential person. We will approach court for the justice," said David, uncle of the deceased.u00a0u00a0u00a0
Wilson is survived by his wife Neeti and a six-year-old son Joshya. He had been living in DDA Flat in Dwarka sector 19 for past eight years. Wilson used to work with Taj Hotel and several other private hotels and restaurants before joining Amici restaurant in Khan Market six month back.
