The fresh version will give landowners more facilities and will also facilitate land record office employees across the district with computerised documentation
After the first edition of the eMojani (online land measurement facility) software received a good response from the people, the Settlement Commissioner and Director of Land Records has decided to launch the second version of the software on April 1.
“After launching the first version in 2012, we received feedback from citizens as well as our staff. Even after facilitating the online land measurement facility, few records like the reports of land measurement and the various court cases associated with land acquisition were still done manually. However, the new version of the eMojani software will computerise all this information, which will save time and efforts of our staff,” said Chandrakant Dalvi, land settlement commissioner.
The first version of e-mojni software was introduced in the state on January 1, 2012. It was particularly a citizen-friendly version of online applications for the measurement of land. It saved the time and efforts of the landowners; however, the lengthy manual work of registering each land record was taking time and was slowing down the entire eMojani process.
“We are already facing lack of manpower and it would be unfair to keep the existing staff busy in maintaining records of each document manually. Considering this workload, we have planned the second version to be more staff-friendly, which would unburden them from the day-to-day registering work,” added Dalvi.
The commissioner also said that the department is also planning to make this online facility of land records available to those citizens who do not have to make rounds to land record offices to check various land records under e-bhulekh scheme (land record information system).
Birth of eMojani
Launched on January 1, 2012, the eMojani system was introduced to cut down long queues at land record offices. All fees are calculated and displayed by the application. The application allocates the cases to registered Measurement Surveyors the surveyor then measures the land. e-payment is also possible after computerisation of land records.
