Initiative by a group of singers aims at taking popular Kannada music to an audience that might just appreciate it the most

There is a musical treat coming you way this November, and you do not even have to miss work for it.

The Star Lunch Box, a concept where singers visit various workplaces during lunch hour, is going to offices with a special package this November, when the state will be celebrating the Rajyotsava. Through Star Lunch Box City-based singers aim to popularise Kannada among young working professionals many of whom, especially in IT companies, are from outside the state by taking the essence of the language to them through music.

November 1 is Karnataka Day and as the month-long 'Kannada Rajyotsava' begins on that day, Prakruti, the music team preparing the 'lunch box,' aims to serve Kannada fare all month long. "We will be reaching many more this November," said M S Prasad, founder of Prakruti.

The initiative by a group of singers and composers, including names like Praveen D Rao, Pallavi and Supriya, aims at taking Kannada to corporate companies."

The Star Lunch Box concept began in 2008. Leading singers such as Pallavi, Supriya Acharya, Archana Udupa, Divya Raghavan and Mangala Ravi lend their voice to the initiative, covering mostly IT companies.

Santhosh and Vyasraj, winners of reality show Voice of Bangalore, also sing in the initiative to create awareness among young working professionals about the state and its culture.

Popular Kannada cinema songs, Kannada folk songs, lullabies and poems by great Kannada poets are sung during weekends.
