The anti-corruption branch (ACB) had registered a case against him. The police officer's Karol Bagh residence was also searched.
The managers of hotels India International, Silver Shine and Carlo Castle remained tight-lipped about the raid.
The hotels are reportedly registered in the name of Lal's father Rajender Singh and one yet to be identified brother.
"We have provided the documents. Each team stayed here for over three hours," said Virendra Singh, manager of Siver Shine, the biggest of the hotels that were raided.
When questioned about the ownership of the hotels, the managers claimed they did not know Roshan Lal personally. "He is not involved with the day-to-day running of these hotels. There are a total of 104 rooms here with the price ranging between Rs 600-Rs 1200," said Mohan, manager of Karlo Kastle.
Lal, a 1978 batch officer, served in anti-corruption branch between 2003 and 2006 and was expecting a promotion soon. Before moving on to Kalyanpuri, he was the SHO at Paharganj police station.
Anti-corruption sleuths also raided his residence in Sadar Bazar police colony and seized various documents.
Another team seized his bank lockers containing jewellery. Lal maintained five bank accounts which are being scanned now.
The accused inspector was not available for comments.
DCP IP Shukla of the ACB refused comment, saying he cannot divulge anything till the raids are on.
"We will be waiting for the ACB to file its report after which we will decide on the course of action. It is too early to comment on the issue," said Dharmendra Kumar, Joint Commissioner, New Delhi Range.
