Cab, rickshaw and truck drivers can soon hold a degree in road and transport through admission at Yashwantrao Chavan Open University (YCMOU), which will be introducing the unique Bachelor of Arts course
The university will introduce the course at its centers in the city, Nasik Aurangabad and Mumbai from this year.

Sources in the university’s BA department said the course will focus on road safety and rules, how to help physically challenged persons, accident victims, besides other useful information related to driving.
Interested persons can enroll by paying Rs 300, and do not need any prior academic qualification.
Experts from various relevant fields have designed study material for the 1-year course, and classes will be held in the night. On completing the course, drivers could qualify for soft loans to set up transport business and may be able to get jobs as middle-level executives in the automobile industry or as stage planners, data collectors and booking agents for goods and passenger carrier services.u00a0
