Jaipur: Breaking her silence over row surrounding Rajasthan government's sighing of MoU with a Portugal-based hospital, Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje today said the step was taken with public welfare in mind.

"What TV or Congress is saying do not affect the public's welfare. The MOU was signed for public and patients of cancer. "What ever the opposition or TV say, we would not care, we are more concerned about public welfare. And for this government is committed," the chief minister said.

The government had signed a memorandum of understanding with a private Portuguese biomedical research organisation, to set up a state-of-the-art cancer institute in Jaipur, on October 2, last year. The MoU was signed about two months after Lalit Modi's wife Minal was treated at the Lisbon-based hospital.

Raje said the hospital will be for poors. "MOU is for our land, our hospital, and we are just going to have research and training from foreign partner. "We have decided to open a cancer centre in the state for outdoor care of cancer patients, and they could go to home after one day of outdoor care," she said.

Raje also claimed that her government carried out huge development in the state in the last 20 months and BJP would again form the government in 2018 Assembly polls. "Despite challenges, my government has worked for welfare of people and set up miles stones of development in the state," Raje said while addressing the state BJP executive meeting here.

"I am sure that in next Assembly polls in 2018, BJP would form the government at its own with great success as it did in 2013 polls," she claimed. She also claimed that when BJP came to power the state was in bad shape.

"As heritage, my government received the state in dire state of financial crisis and debt burden, and now we have faced this challenge and brought the state from the trap of sick state category," Raje said, adding that now the state's economy has got a pace of development.

BJP will hold a training camp for party's MLA and MPs in first week of August, she announced. She advised MLA and MPs to use their funds in their areas in consultation with party workers.
