Suicide note states so, but cops believe cash crunch might be the actual reason

When Vishal Shinde went to meet Chandmal Agarwal (46) on Monday afternoon, little did he know that he was bit too late. Agarwal, his wife Rajkumari (40), and two children Kirti (12), and Vishal (8), had committed suicide earlier that day at their third floor flat in B K Avenue.

"I rang the doorbell several times, but there was no response. Then, a neighbour told me that the family had probably gone to Jaipur, their native place," said Shinde

The deaths came to light last morning when a stench emanating from the flat made locals alert the police. The cops reached the building at around 10 am and found the bodies in a completely decomposed state. As the smell was unbearable, it tooku00a0 five hours for the cops to remove theu00a0 bodies from the flat and take them to the hospital, say police. The initial forensic reports confirmed that the family had consumed ammonium phosphate.

Suicide note
However, according to police, the family left behind a note stating, "We are receivingu00a0 threat calls. We are tired of this and are committing suicide." Investigating officer PI Chandrakant Ghodke told MiD DAY, "Chandmal last received a call on his cell phone at 10 am on Monday. Our primary investigation indicates that the family's financial difficulties led to the suicide."

Wife ill
P G Ghawalkar, the owner of the flat, said "The Agarwals were staying on rent for the past 15 months. I heard that Agarwal had some financial problems, but he paid his rent on time, except for the last two months. He had told me on October 1 that his wife was critically ill and he wanted to take her to their native place in Rajasthan."
