Blue film scandal: JNU video meant for porn sites?

The tape was leaked after the three students who had made it got involved in a dispute

After the video of two students of the School of Languages in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) having sex surfaced in the campus, a question that has come up is why the video that was shot in April last came in circulation ten months later?

Sources inside the campus say that it was because of the alleged dispute among the three involved in making of the video."The girl was not oblivious to the fact that the act was being recorded. Both of them and the computer science student had made this video allegedly to be sold to foreign pornographic websites and foreign tourists. But there was some dispute among the three and one of the male students passed the video to others on the campus," said a university student on condition of anonymity.u00a0

Meanwhile, the students associations have been trying to lodge an FIR against the boy who had allegedly tried to sell the CD. "We have lodged a complaint with the proctor's office and we want the boy behind bars. He has no right to breach the girl's privacy and he cannot get away with it easily," said Vismay Bose, vice-president, AISA. The two students seenu00a0 in the video have been suspended.

The University's investigation committee headed by the proctor, H B Bohidar is to present its report to the vice-chancellor S K Sopory today. When MiD DAY contacted DCP (South) HGS Dhaliwal, he denied any probe has been ordered into the case. "We are not launching any probe into the matter till the girl or anybody from her side files a complaint in this regard."

Case so far
The film was reportedly shot around ten month ago by a couple of students of School of Languages. It is believed that the boy and the girl in the film, who are natives of Bihar, were provided with the equipment for shooting by a student of Computer Science. When other students of the university came to know about the incident, they bashed up the boy who had 'acted' in the film. The university officials then reportedly destroyed the CD and tried to hush up the matter.
