The project passed in 2010 was supposed to be completed by April 2011; MSRDC assures action against developer for the delay
Mumbaikars will have to wait for another seven months to take a walk on the state-of-the-art promenade, which is being developed along the Bandra reclamation. Reason? The project which was supposed to be concluded last April has been delayed by over a year.

In December 2010, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) awarded the contract of developing the promenade to one of the leading developers in the city, whose job is to construct and maintain the 1.25-km-long promenade for the next 15 years. “The developer was awarded the contract to develop and maintain the 1.25-km-long promenade on the side of the Bandra Reclamation road leading towards Bandra-Worli Sea Link (BWSL). The developer has already made the upfront payment of Rs 99 lakh to MSRDC. Though the project deadline for the construction was April 2011, slow pace of work by the contractor has delayed the project.
Hence it will take until December 2012 to complete the work,” said an MSRDC official. When contacted, MSRDC Chief Engineer A Deodhar said, “It is true that the project has been delayed, but the MSRDC has taken a serious note of the delay and will be penalising the developer for the same.”u00a0
