Thane (Maha): The Thane district administration today said as many as 683 buildings within the jurisdiction of six municipal corporations have been classified as "most dangerous".

Apart from this, 4,280 buildings in the limit of the six civic bodies are classified as "dangerous," an official release said.
There are six municipal corporations in the district - Thane, Ulhasnagar, Bhiwandi, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan Dombivli and Mira Bhayandar.
In the aftermath of a building collapse in the city last week in which 12 persons died, the District Collector Ashwini Joshi had held an emergency meeting in this regard in which she had directed authorities concerned to compile a list of "most dangerous" and "dangerous" buildings.
There are 58 "most dangerous" and 2,639 "dangerous" buildings in Thane city alone, the release added. In Kalyan-Dombivli, there are 277 "most dangerous" while 337 "dangerous" buildings, while in Mira Bhaindar.
One building is classified as "most dangerous" and 6 buildings as "dangerous", it said.
In Ulhasnagar, there are 28 buildings classified as "most dangerous" while 311 buildings are "dangerous".
In Bhiwandi, while 319 buildings are "most dangerous", 895 building are classified as "dangerous". In Navi Mumbai, there are 92 buildings classified as "dangerous" while there are no buildings which are "most dangerous", it added.
