Officers and jawans participated in the rally, which was held to mark the dedication and service of the Indian Coast Guard. The bike rally, named "Sarhad se Samundar", symbolised the ICG's role in safeguarding India's maritime boundaries.
The 49th Raising Day, observed on 1st February 2025, marks nearly five decades of the ICG's contributions to national security. The ICG was established in 1977 with just seven surface platforms and has expanded significantly since its formation.
Today, the ICG operates a fleet of 151 ships and 76 aircraft, enhancing its capacity for maritime protection. By 2030, the Indian Coast Guard plans to further expand, aiming for 200 surface platforms and 100 aircraft.
The ICG’s motto, "Vayam Rakshamah", translates to "We Protect", reflecting its commitment to safeguarding India’s maritime zones. The ICG has saved over 11,730 lives, including 169 in the past year alone, underscoring its vital role in Search and Rescue operations.
The ICG covers a vast 4.6 million square-kilometre Search and Rescue Region, providing security to seafarers, fishermen, and vessels.
The service’s outstanding achievements have been acknowledged by the President, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Defence Minister of India.
