The rupee recovered 4 paise from its all-time low level to close at 87.07 against US dollar on Tuesday, as the American currency index retreated from its elevated level after President Donald Trump agreed to pause tariffs on Mexico and Canada. Forex traders said the US dollar index, which had surged past 109.88 level, retreated to 108 level after Trump announced the temporary pause on tariffs for 30 days.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday hailed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation`s budget as "people-centric", and said it has taken care of the common man with a focus on health, education and environment. Addressing a press conference here, Shinde, who is also Urban Development Minister, said there was no rise in any kind of tax or cess in this year`s budget. On the contrary, the revenue has risen by over Rs 7,000 crore.

The Mumbai civic body on Tuesday said it has completed cement concretisation of about 1,335km roads so far, and the majority of remaining work will be wrapped up by June. Addressing a press conference after the presentation of the civic body`s Rs 74,447 crore budget for FY2025-26, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation commissioner Bhushan Gagrani said the BMC has undertaken cement concretisation work of 698 and 1,420 roads in Phases I and II, respectively.
