Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday directed officials to formulate a policy to grant `industrial township` status to villages that have MIDC areas in order to accelerate their overall development. Fadnavis chaired a meeting to review the functioning of Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). It was attended by Deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar as well as senior officials.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday called for strengthening the forensic science laboratories to curb criminal activities for effective implementation of new criminal laws. Stating that forensic evidence is used in about 65 per cent of the criminal cases carrying punishments of more than seven years, he said this percentage should be taken up further.

Some veteran local leaders of the Shiv Sena (UBT) from the Lalbaug-Parel area of central Mumbai on Friday joined the ruling Shiv Sena led by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Veteran Shiv Sainiks Vishwanath Khatate, Vijay (Nat) Kalgutkar, and Kashitai Koli, along with 25 others from Parel-Bhoiwada, have "rejoined" the Shiv Sena. They were earlier with the Shiv Sena (UBT), the Shinde-led party said.

Marathi film and TV actor Sagar Karande lost more than Rs 61 lakh to cyber fraudsters who promised him money for liking Instagram videos, a police official said on Friday. This modus operandi is part of what is now called `task` fraud. In this, scammers offer people money for repetitive tasks such as liking videos or rating products, before asking them to invest big amounts to move on to higher levels for greater returns.
