Several parts of Thane city will face a 12-hour water cut on September 21, announced Thane Municipal Corporation on Monday.

The water supply will be cut from 9 am to 9 pm on Wednesday in view of maintenance work.

The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) in a statement said that due to heavy rainfall in September, the Bhatsa dam has been flooded from time to time. This further led to waterlogging at the Pise filtration plant. The strainer at the plant is clogged with silt and garbage impacting the supply to the city.

"Due to the silt and garbage getting stuck in the strainer of the pump at the Pise filtration plant the flow of water through the pump has reduced. In order to remove the silt and garbage, the TMC will stop the water supply from 9 am to 9 pm on Wednesday, September 21", said the civic body.

Meanwhile, Indiranagar, Ramnagar, Srinagar, Lokmanya Nagar, Rupadevi, Yeur, Defence, Vitthal Sports Mandal, Kisannagar, etc., will face a 24-hour cut from 9.00 am to 9.00 am on Thursday, September 22, the civic body added further.
