Mumbai: Woman falls to death from overcrowded train

Riya Shyamji Rajgor, 26

A 26-year-old officegoer from Dombivli died after she slipped from the footboard of an overcrowded suburban train between Kopar and Diva station on Monday.  The deceased has been identified as Riya Shyamji Rajgor, who stayed with her parents and brother at Shri Sanket Building in Dombivli East.

Rajgor used to work with a construction firm in Thane and commuted daily by train from Dombivli to Thane. “The woman had boarded an overcrowded train at Dombivli. After the train left the platform of Kopar and travelled some distance, Rajgor lost her balance and slipped from the footboard,” said a police officer. The Dombivli Government Railway Police have registered an accidental death report and are investigating the matter.
