Life was thrown off gear for the commuters on Monday morning after Western Railway's suburban services took a hit following a technical glitch. According to the officials, there had been a point failure near the Borivali station rendering services nonoperational from platforms 1 and 2 which had also caused considerable delays in the services.

Officials from the Western Railway said that an issue of cable cutting was detected at around 2 am at Borivali which had led to signal failure. The restoration work was completed at 12.05 pm on Monday.

'An issue of cable cutting was detected at around 2.00 am at Borivali. This led to signal failure, due to which suburban trains were not being operated from platform nos 1 & 2 of Borivali Station.  Trains were being operated from platforms nos 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 of Borivali station. All points have been restored. Train movement from platform no. 1 of Borivali station has resumed from 12.05 hrs. About 40 pairs of scheduled (timetabled) trains were cancelled. An additional 35 locals were put into service for the convenience of passengers," said the official from WR.

"Passenger kindly note. Due to a technical failure at Borivali station, all Slow suburban trains are running late by 15 to 20 minutes. The inconvenience caused to passengers is deeply regretted," DRM had written in a social media post.

Meanwhile, the DRM of Western Railway told the passengers that all suburban slow trains were running late.

The commuters were helter-skelter due to the delay in services. A huge crowd had gathered across the Western Line's suburban stations. They were sharing visuals of the same on social media.

One of the commuters took to X (formerly Twitter) and shared visuals of the Borivali station.

Another commuter said, "It's very unfortunate that at 6.45-7, there were virtually no announcements on Borivali especially Platform No.1 & 2 from where no trains were operational."

"Trains are stuck at Kandivali station for more than 45 mins. Kindly resolve the issue ASAP," another commuter wrote tagging Union Minister Piyush Goyal.
