In the early hours of Sunday, a severe collision occurred on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, resulting in severe injuries to a woman. The incident involved a 19-year-old driver of a Mercedes colliding with the car in which the injured woman and her friend were travelling. The impact of the collision was so intense that the SUV in which the woman was travelling spun around twice before she was thrown out of the car. The accused driver has been apprehended by the Worli police.

The accident took place at around 4:45 am. Deepak Kasture, a Goregaon resident, had attended a party in Santacruz and was returning home with his friend, Anjali Agarwal, who lived in Worli. As they were passing poll numbers 105 and 106 on the Bandra-Worli Sea Link, a speeding vehicle crashed into the rear of Kasture's car.

Kasture described the impact as incredibly severe, causing their Kia car to spin twice on the road. After the car came to a halt, he realized that Anjali was no longer inside the vehicle. While Kasture and his driver remained unharmed, Anjali was found lying on the road bleeding. Passersby stopped to help, and an ambulance was called to transport Anjali to Bhabha Hospital in Bandra. She was later shifted to Hinduja Hospital.

The vehicle responsible for the collision had the registration number MH-04-FA-0783. The Worli police, alerted by the Sea Link security personnel, arrived at the scene and discovered that the occupants of the vehicle had fled. CCTV footage revealed a young man and woman fleeing the scene, prompting a search operation that led to the arrest of the male suspect, identified as Jay Bansode.

According to the police, Jay, a resident of Bhayander, was driving his female friend to Peder Road. On the Sea Link, he accelerated his automatic car and attempted to overtake Kasture's car, resulting in the collision.

Worli police has charged Jay Bansode under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including rash driving, causing hurt by endangering others' safety, and causing grievous hurt by endangering others' safety. Additionally, he faces charges under the Motor Vehicle Act. The police has arrested him in connection with the incident.
