Mumbai has reported a rising number of malaria this August. The city recorded 462 malaria, 317 dengue cases in first two weeks of August.

According to the BMC officials, there is no significant rise in Leptospirosis and Dengue cases however slight rise is observed in Malaria cases this week (7 -13 August) when compared to first week of August (1-6 August 2023).
Around 13,220 houses were inspected by BMC to control spread of malaria. 1,578 anopheles mosquito breeding were detected by BMC in last two week.
The BMC official stated, In 2023 cases increased due to an increase in reporting units from 22 to 880. These units include BMC dispensaries, BMC Hospitals, HBT clinics, additional private labs, and private hospitals.
"A reduction in Hepatitis, H1N1 Gastro and Chikungunya cases is observed in this week (7 -13 Aug) when compared to first week of Aug ( 1 - 6 Aug 2023)," the BMC further stated.
