The Kurar police have booked a man after his pet dog attacked a teenager and injured him.

According to the police, the incident occurred on October 24, when 14-year old Pratik Bansode, a resident of Gokul Nagar in Kandivali East, was returning from tuitions and a neighbouring pet dog bit him on his lower back. After visiting the doctor, Pratik’s father Anil Bansode approached the cops and registered a case against its owner Shyamlal Jaiswal.

Pratik received four injections— one on each arm and two in the abdomen—with three more injections required. Jaiswal moved into the neighbourhood on lease just three months ago.

Speaking to mid-day Pratik’s father Anil said, “I received a call from my wife that a neighbour’s pet dog Tuffy attacked our son. I rushed home and found my son Pratik had a dog bite wound on his back. My son told me that Jaiswal’s dog, Tuffy bit him when he was coming home.  I immediately informed the Kurar police. Following the police’s advice, I took Pratik to Shatabdi Hospital for treatment. After the treatment, I returned to Kurar police station and registered an FIR against Jaiswal.”

“The neighbour’s dog is aggressive and the owner should take responsibility that it doesn’t bite anyone in the society,” Bansode further said.

Case registered

A police officer said, “We have registered the FIR under sections IPC 289 (negligent conduct with respect to animal) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and further actions are underway.”
