With the city witnessing an exponential rise in daily COVID-19 cases, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC’s) plan to vaccinate 1 lakh people daily seems to have taken a backseat. Also, the shortage of vaccines has affected the drive to a great extent. However, on Tuesday, the situation started to get back on track with the civic body conducting about 45,000 vaccinations. Meanwhile, over 2 lakh have been fully inoculated in the city.

A total of 45,524 people, including senior citizens, those above 45 years of age with comorbidities, health and frontline workers, were vaccinated across the city on Tuesday.  However, the BMC clarified that the number includes those inoculated in the second half of Monday and first half of Tuesday.

Further, four cases of adverse effects were reported on Tuesday, when 121 vaccination centres were running. Three more vaccination centres will be started from Wednesday. Meanwhile, a total of 17,53,452 beneficiaries have been inoculated, out of which 20,29,89 have been fully vaccinated as they have got both the jabs.

The total number of senior citizens who were vaccinated on Tuesday was 12,684, while 28,792 people above 45 years of age with comorbidities got their jabs and 1,165 health care workers got inoculated. Further, a total of 2,883 frontline workers got their jabs.
