The fugitive drug smuggler, Lalit Patil, has been remanded in police custody till Friday, October 27. Patil who was apprehended by the Mumbai Police last week, was produced in the Andheri court in Mumbai on Monday.


On October 17, the Mumbai Police arrested fugitive drug smuggler Lalit Patil from Hotel Channasandra, in Bengaluru. The drug smuggler Lalit Patil had managed to evade capture for the past two weeks after fleeing from Pune’s Sassoon hospital. Earlier, Lalit Patil had managed to evade capture after fleeing from Pune’s Sassoon hospital. Mumbai Police managed to arrest him following a manhunt. 


Along with Lalit Patil, another co-accused in the case, Sachin Wagh too has been remanded police custody till October 27.


Earlier, Patil was arrested by Pimpri-Chinchwad police for his involvement in a large-scale mephedrone in October 2020. Following his arrest, he was transferred to Yerawada Central Prison. Due to health issues including hernia and tuberculosis, Patil was admitted to Pune's Sassoon Hospital in June.
