Twenty-five celebrities, including Abhishek Bachchan, Karan Johar and Abhay Deol will walk the ramp on December 15, but not for a fashion event.

Instead, they will be raising funds for the Mijwan Welfare Society, which was set up by actress Shabana Azmi's father, the late Kaifi Azmi.

The stars will sport outfits designed by students from five of Mumbai's design schools. The students will be mentored by Manish Malhotra and Anita Dongre. A panel of judges will pick three winners.

Judges will include Parmeshwar Godrej, Shaina N C, Pradeep Hirani of Kimaya and Pradeep Guha.

"The idea was thought up by Namrata Goyal, who is Naresh and Neeta Goyal's daughter and my god child," said Shabana, who now heads the trust that runs a high school, an inter college for girls, a computer centre and a sewing embroidery centre specialising in chikankari in Mijwan, a village in the district of Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh. Kaifi Azmi hailed from Mijwan.

"All the stars and models are doing this gratis. The minute they knew it was an event in my father Kaifi Azmi's memory they came on board, no questions asked.

I am very grateful to them and it reaffirms my faith that the film industry and the fashion fraternity are really like a family, always there to rally round each other in times of need," said Azmi.

Boman Irani and Mansi Scott will perform at the event.
