Although delimitation has redrawn the constituency boundaries and the voters, the Congress party has renominated three MPs. Milind Deora from South Mumbai, Eknathrao Gaikwad from South Central and Priya Dutt from North Central.

Deora will be facing veteran Shiv Sainik Mohan Rawale. Rawale is a sitting MP from the former South Central constituency.

It would be an interesting fight in South Mumbai. Delimitation has increased the Marathi population in this constituency.

Gurudas Kamat was being considered, along with Gaikwad. However, the Congress did not want to take chance and renominated Gaikwad.

If Gaikwad had been sidelined, the party would have lost heavily on Dalit votes.
Gaikwad faces Suresh Gambhir, a Sena MLA from Mahim. Gaikwad, being a sitting MP has an edge over Gambhir.

Priya Dutt, the sitting MP from North West will now contest from North Central. Her family background and her surname should work for her. Dutt will now have too a fresh set of voters.

Congress is yet to decide on Mumbai North West and North which is likely to be given to Gurudas Kamat and Sanjay Nirupam respectively.
