Mumbai crime: Ex-scribe accuses boyfriend of rape on false promise of marriage

A former journalist with a Marathi daily was allegedly raped here by her boyfriend on the pretext of marriage, police said today. The accused, identified as Kapil Jayprakash Ingole (30), who works in public relations department of a media organisation, is still at large, police said.


According to police, the 28-year-old woman met the Ingole through common friends last year. Ingole, who hails from Parbhani in the state, stayed in a rented apartment in Parel and later shifted to Parksite area, Gorai police station inspector J P Patil said.


Last year, the victim allegedly was sexually assaulted at a resort in suburban Gorai by the accused after he promised to marry her. He then continued the relationship with the victim at his rented apartment in suburban Vikhroli. The victim also stays in Vikhroli area with her family. Later, the relationship between the two soured and the accused refused to marry her following which she narrated the matter to her mother.


The girl then took up the matter with Parksite police station where an FIR was registered on May 15 and then the case was transferred to Gorai police station. After registration of FIR, Ingole applied for anticipatory bail in sessions court in suburban Dindoshi which was rejected recently. The accused has now approached Bombay High Court and his plea is yet to come up for hearing, police said.
